Roles

Cowardly Lion / Zeke

Featured Singer

Zeke the farmhand has all the character traits of the Lion.

The Lion doesn’t realise his own strength and place at the top of the Animal Kingdom, cowardly, meek and fearful of everything which is hidden behind the bluster and roar.

Very funny and sometimes negative but eventually heroic and strong.

Good physical mover.

Dorothy Gale

Featured Singer

Dorothy is a young unappreciative teen who lives on the Kansas prairie with her Aunt & Uncle.

She dreams big and longs for adventure, Dorothy is brave and feisty but with a kind, caring and accepting manner. She is loyal & protective to her dog Toto who sometimes feels like her only friend.

Dorothy is honest, open and supportive, a real ray of light to all she meets, except of course The Wicked Witch of the West!

Good mover.

Ensemble

Lead Vocalists

  • Excellent singers/actors with good movement skills.
  • Various vocal ensemble roles will be required to understudy principal roles.

Dancers / Vocalists

  • Outstanding dancers/singers with strong technical, contemporary and commercial abilities.
  • Must be able to sing.
  • Acro/Tumbling a plus.

Glinda the Good Witch / Aunt Em

Featured Singer

Aunt Em is a steady no-nonsense mother figure who is always busy and tired, she worries for Dorothy and cares greatly for her.

Glinda is gracious, wise and wonderfully kind, a protector and guiding light for Dorothy. Wonderfully beautiful and magical!

Good mover.

Professor Marvel / Great Oz

Featured Singer

Marvel is an old Kansas City Showman, a bumbling but charming storyteller who travels state to state carving out a living peddling his fake magic.

Oz is bombastic and magnificent! Intimidating, powerful and fearsome, until we discover he’s actually the good-humored humbug Professor Marvel.

Mover with style.

Scarecrow / Hunk

Featured Singer

Hunk the farmhand has all the character traits of the Scarecrow.

The Scarecrow is a non-human character who is zany & fun with a joyous, light hearted manner, full of energy he is totally protective of Dorothy once she befriends him but has a fear of fire!

Great physical dancer.

The Wicked Witch of the West / Almira Gulch

Featured Singer

Gulch is a mean, vindictive, bitter & cold person of status & wealth, who is ultimately lonely behind her snobby veneer.

The Wicked Witch is vengeful, bitter, and oppressive but also strangely beguiling and attractive with a dry wit!

Good dancer.

Tin Man / Hickory

Featured Singer

Hickory the farmhand has all the character traits of the Tin Man.

The Tin Man is a magical character, strong and statuesque and completely made of metal! The Tin Man is heartfelt, emotional and sensitive but practical, upright and strong.

Good solid dancer, basic tap a plus.

Uncle Henry / Oz Door Man

Featured Singer

Uncle Henry is a hard-working & proud farmer, he has strong integrity and an aged wisdom.

Oz Doorman is odd, quirky and quick-witted, who is more knowing and knowledgeable about the inner workings of the Emerald City than he lets on.

Decent mover.
